Ok so I'm super excited for this post!
A little while back I added a boy 'Michael' on facebook.com (italics used), purely for his looks. I new nothing about him aside from his divine locks, intense style and of course his first and last name.
Was soon before we got to talking and hit it off like lint to cashmere. Turns out on top of his well preserved youthful looks he's, like, the most amazing designer. Michael was kind enough to lend us a few moments of his time, but I assured him I would pay him back in coupons and scratchie tickets.
Here's how it went down.
So, who are some of your fashion icons?
Galliano, Gaultier, Ford, Lacroix are all massive icons, the gays know style!
You had the amazing opportunity of working on Project Runway. Give us the low down on your experience.
PR was NUTS!!!... nuts in the best way, to be thrown into a complete lockdown situation to the extremity that you have to ask... and be escorted to the bathroom just so you don't sneak peak anything you shouldn't was crazy town!... the most torturous part was no music!... EVER!!!! But in all the madness it was THE most incredible time of my life, being surrounded by such amazingly talented individuals 24/7 is a dream come true.
Favorite fashion web site right now aside from mine?
My favourite fashion website changes all the time... at the moment its an incredible French label ( www.jitrois.fr ) who have developed a way to make leather stretch... SEXY STUFF!!! i want it ALL !!!
www.jitrois.fr
Favorite accessory of an outfit?
I believe an outfit is not complete without a belt... i belt everything... even if i'm in casual pants and gardening... iv got a belt on!... that... and a well defined brow... always HOT!
How do you see fashion today? And how do you see it changing in future?
Fashion today is so disposable... i find it totally depressing seeing all this 'stuff' hanging of plastic hangers...trendy mass market production... cheap chinese rags... that are then marked up 3000% to give it some deluded sense of 'quality'.... hmm.. maybe i'm being too honest here... but its true.
I say open your eyes to where your clothes are coming from, who is making them, understand that there is so much more to what you put on your back than what you pay for it... understanding and appreciating quality and craftsmanship is far more valuable than wearing the latest 'trend'.
Haute couture is a dying art because everyone wants it faster and cheaper and NOW.... how about you wait for it... get measured and pay for something made that fits you perfectly from sumptuous fabrication and quality craftsmanship.... that you will have forever! and will always be in style.... that to me is fashion.
What is the hardest part of fashion design?
The hardest part of fashion design is having to circum to the fact that the masses view it as simply shelter for their body... very few will embrace and appreciate the struggling artist until they are dead... probably far too a dramatic spin on it... but if more people stoped throwing money away on garbage 'hot cheap trends' in order to 'look good and feel hot for the moment' and embraced quality over quantity... i say the streets would be a much more stylish place.... aka Paris... people are aware of the quality of garments are are more than willing to pay for something that is so incredible and makes them feel amazing... simply for the fact that its totally fabulous!
Fur or Faux?
Faux feels and looks like shit.... Fur is always in fashion in my eye.... don't you just want to touch it =) i do, but let's not tell P.E.T.A. that!
To check out Michael collections I urge you to visit his website and see exactly what I'm talking about when I say 'Fabulous'.
